At Veho, we don’t just move packages– we build technology that solves the messy realities of last-mile delivery. And few problems are messier than a bad address.
Every e-commerce brand knows the scenario: a customer inputs the wrong address, a delivery driver spends too long locating the right one, and if they are unable to find it, a misdelivery leads to a support ticket and a frustrated buyer. Multiply that by thousands of deliveries per week, and you have a measurable issue for operations, cost control, and customer experience.
At Veho, our platform is purpose- built to solve for address complexities. Learned Geocodes is one of the many tools we’ve created to fix incorrect address issues.
Introducing Learned Geocodes: Veho’s AI-Driven Fix for Bad Address Data
Learned Geocodes is our latest proprietary routing enhancement—a feature that automatically corrects inaccurate geocodes based on actual delivery history, not just third-party maps. By clustering multiple previous successful deliveries to the same address and validating the actual delivery location, we override faulty geocodes with pinpoint-accurate ones.
The result: faster deliveries and fewer misdeliveries that lead to lower costs for shippers and a more seamless experience for customers and driver-partners alike.
Why It Matters for Brands
Bad geocodes can drive up to 50% of delivery defects. For Shippers, that means:
- Missed and misplaced deliveries
- Costly re-delivery attempts
- Unhappy customers contacting support, increasing support costs
- Negative brand impacts and potential reduction in re-purchase rates
- Credits and refunds for angry customers
- Long driver-partner stop times and route inefficiencies that translate to higher shipping costs
Learned Geocodes eliminates this friction by using Veho’s delivery intelligence to correct location issues before they cause problems. Once a new address has been successfully delivered a few times, our product validates the optimal location and updates future routes accordingly.
The Proof is in the Data
In 2024, we ran a manual pilot to test the value of geocode corrections. For the 5,000+ addresses we manually updated each month, the misdelivery rate dropped by 60% after the correction.
Now, with full automation live since Q4 2024, the system works continuously, no manual work required. Learned Geocodes is now active across our network, dynamically improving route accuracy and reducing defects at scale.
Who Benefits
- E-commerce brands and shippers: Fewer refunds, faster support resolution, and better CSAT
- Customers: Fewer delivery errors, faster deliveries, lower friction and effort related to address validation
- Driver-Partners: Shorter stop times and fewer support calls—without penalizing performance metrics due to bad data
Powered by Veho’s Proprietary Technology
We use a clustering algorithm (k-means) to identify delivery locations that consistently "succeed”. Once we have three or more successful drop-offs to an address, we calculate a central “learned” point and compare it to the original geocode. If it’s off by more than 150 feet, we override it.
This is just one example of how Veho uses data to build smarter, more resilient delivery infrastructure for our partners and their customers.
The Bottom Line
Learned Geocodes is just another part of the revolution Veho is making last-mile logistics. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes innovation that makes Veho a true technology partner for the brands we serve.
